Master plan
The master plan evolved from the "Development Concept for Restructuring the Old Port Areas in Bremen" which was concluded in 2000 by the Bremen Senate and City Parliament. It contains the urban development concept for the transformation of the port areas to the right of the River Weser. It is an informal planning instrument. From the city centre the planning area extends for a length of 3.5 km and a breadth of up to 1.0 km downstream along the River Weser. The river bank, quays and embankments bordering the 300 hectares have a lasting influence on both urban space and architecture. The differences that have developed in the individual districts give each one its own special character.
Due to a constant flow of new developments within the Überseestadt not all the plans are always fully up-to-date.
